This is a temporary, limited duration position, working for a total of 11 - 12 weeks
from March 2021 and ending on or before June 30, 2021. The position hours
will vary from 18-24 hours/week depending upon program needs. The position will
be on hiatus during the holiday season in December and will also have a hiatus
during spring break. Position will not work on federal and school holidays during the
school year. This position does not offer benefits.

General Function:
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, Ready, Set, Go, the Program
Assistant is responsible for providing direct support to the day-to-day operations of
the Kindergarten Readiness and Family engagement program. The Assistant will
support the Parent Child Interaction Groups (PCIG’s) including lesson planning, lead
physical activities class, coordinate volunteers, and build trusting relationships with
program participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support all the activities planned by the Program Coordinator

Support all needs for Parent-Child Interaction group including set-up and clean-up

Assist with purchasing needs for RSG programming

Maintain a high-quality preschool environment to the Ready, Set, Go standards
-
Create monthly planning for physical activity class
-
Organize materials and volunteers in order to implement physical activity
-
Attend regularly occurring supervision meetings with Program Coordinator,
-
Organize and maintain program file and documentation as required
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
-
Ability to read, write and speak fluently in the language(s) in addition to English is preferred

Knowledge and understanding of Positive Discipline
-
Knowledge of child development
-
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with diverse families
-
Demonstrated knowledge of and competency to operate a personal computer
and utilization of the internet
Education and Experience Requirements:
-
Certification, Associates degree, or higher education degree in Early Childhood Education or minimum of 2 years of classroom experience in Early Childhood Education (ages preferred 0-3; 3-5) or relevant equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a
timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver's license for
the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving
record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.
MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background
check which includes a fingerprint background check. We review the results of all
background checks individually and consider all of the circumstances of any issues
that arise in a background check during the hiring process.
Work Environment:
Work is normally performed in a collaborative classroom/office environment and/or
at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning,
weekend or evening work. Position requires regular use of computer, telephone, fax
machine, scanner, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
